Weekend crime round-up

Robbers tackled the victim and threatened him with a knife.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Gardening equipment was stolen from a business situated along Springs Road, in Rand Collieries.

A 40-year-old male motorist’s vehicle was stolen in a hijacking in Brakpan North.

The victim had stopped at the corner of Hospital Road and Abramowitz Street to change a flat tyre on his silver Kia Serato, at about 3.20pm.

As he completed the task, he was approached by a man armed with a knife.

The man held the knife to the victim’s throat and demanded his belongings.

The man took the victim’s cellphone, car keys and wallet – which contained R3000.

He then climbed in to the victim’s car and drove off.

Two batteries were stolen from trucks parked at a logistics company, in Colliery Road, Rand Collieries.

• Saturday – Two television sets were stolen during a break-in at a home along Lotus Avenue, in Kenleaf.

A blue Fiat Uno was stolen from the corner of Park Street and Kitzinger Avenue; and a white Nissan 1400 was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

The Nissan was later recovered in Etwatwa, Benoni.

A car parked along the corner of Prince George Avenue and Northdene Avenue was broken into.

A GPS valued at R1500 was stolen from the vehicle.

• Sunday – A man was robbed of his belongings by two robbers along Station Road.

The man was walking to the CBD at about 8.15pm, when he noticed two men following him.

The victim started to run and the men gave chase.

The robbers tackled the victim and threatened him with a knife.

They fled with the victim’s two cellphones, as well as his bank card and driver’s licence.
