Make Christmas magical

It's the perfect way to get your little ones excited.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – and that’s never more true than when you’re a mum. Not only do you get to enjoy the festivities for yourself (of course!) but you also get to make it magical for your little ones!

Santa’s magic key

Is your kid wondering how Santa will get into the house when you don’t have a chimney? The answer is as simple as Santa’s magic key. Tie an old-fashioned ornate key on your front doorknob and explain that it’s a magic key that only works for Santa.

Hang the stockings

Leave your stockings until Christmas Eve and hang them up with the children’s help before they go to bed. It will add to the excitement of the evening.

If you don’t have stockings or have nowhere to hang them, have the kids place pillowcases at the end of their beds.

The night before Christmas

What better book to read on Christmas Eve than ‘The Night Before Christmas’?

It’s the perfect way to get your little ones excited for a visit from the man in the big red suit. Read it as a bedtime story, snuggled up as a family, and it will become the perfect Christmas tradition you want to keep every year.

Create Santa landing lights

Make sure he knows where to land by making a runway in your garden. Put outdoor fairy lights or battery-powered tea lights either side of your pathway to make the perfect landing strip for a flying sleigh.

Laugh a lot

Doesn’t it seem like your best memories are spent laughing? The holiday season is a time to celebrate love, life and redemption and spend our days with those we love the most. With all the focus on holiday planning and rushing to finish the ever-growing to-do list, Christmas Eve is your chance to finally sit down and enjoy the moment with your family Because after all, isn’t that what it is all about?

Take a photo of Santa

Dress up as Santa and have someone take a photo of you bending down by the tree, delivering presents whilst the children are fast asleep. If you’re going for authenticity, you can move the camera quickly to give it the kind of blur usually seen on photos of Bigfoot.
