Weekend crime round-up

The victim was kicked and threatened with a pair of pliers.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Two homes in Brakpan North were burgled.

A television set, sound system, liquor and a handbag were stolen from an address along Pythian Street, while cellphones, car keys and house keys were stolen from a residence in McMillan Street.

A break-in was reported at a home along Hendrik Potgieter Street, in Dalview.

A television set was stolen.

A black GoMoto scooter was stolen from an address along Trollip Street, in Brenthurst.

The scooter was later recovered at a property in Victoria Avenue and two men were arrested.

A white Toyota Dyna truck was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

Police recovered the vehicle a short while later and arrested the suspected thief.

A laptop, an external computer hard drive and a cellphone were stolen from a car parked at the corner of Park Street and Kingsway Avenue.

A man was robbed of R240 while walking along Denne Road, in Vulcania.

One of the robbers grabbed the victim from behind, while the other searched his pockets.

They took his cash and fled on foot.

The incident took place at about 2.10pm.

A red Fiat Uno was stolen from the Sherwood Shopping Centre.

• Saturday – Two security guards on duty at a construction site along Second Road, in Witpoort Estates, were assaulted during a robbery.

Police were called to the scene at about 3am, after an unknown number of robbers made off with batteries and diesel from a construction vehicle.

The guards, who were rushed to a local hospital, were also robbed of their cellphones.

A case of common robbery was opened.

Jewellery, three sets of car keys and a laptop were stolen during a burglary at a home along Victoria Avenue.

• Sunday – A white Sym scooter was stolen from the corner of High Street and Voortrekker Road, and a white and red Honda motorbike was stolen from an address along Bertram Street, in Brakpan North.

A residence in Plastic City was burgled of two cellphones and R900.

A white Fiat Uno was stolen from the Sherwood Shopping Centre.

A man was assaulted and robbed of his cellphone, wallet and shoes.

The man was walking along Kingsway Avenue at about 10pm, when he was attacked by a group of men.

The victim was kicked and threatened with a pair of pliers.

He was searched and the robbers fled on foot with his belongings.
