Local police are appealing to motorcycle and scooter owners to ensure their bikes are properly secured whenever they are parked.
This follows a recent increase in the theft of these vehicles in Brakpan.
“Ensure that your motorbike is properly secured and locked before parking it, and, if possible, keep it out of sight or covered,” said Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander.
“Make use of locks and chains if you have to and never leave them parked outside overnight.”
Suspicious-looking vehicles, individuals and activities can be reported to sector police, or the Brakpan Police Station on 011 744 4940.
