A special operation conducted by the EMPD Equestrian Unit in Brakpan North resulted in the seizure of illegal mining equipment.
The operation, which took place on Thursday, last week, targeted illegal mining in the area.
According to EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago, an area near Hospital Road was searched by EMPD officers.
“A large quantity of equipment used to mine illegally was seized,” he said.
“Among the confiscated equipment were picks, spades, crates, firehoses, water pumps, wheelbarrows and steel pots.”
No arrests were made and all the seized equipment was booked in at the Brakpan Police Station.
