Thenjayo approached the wheelchair-bound man, who was 64 years old at the time of the incident – and threatened him with a knife.

He then got into the victim’s car – a white Volkswagen Polo – and drove off.

Members of the community, who witnessed the hijacking, managed to stop the vehicle.

They pulled the keys from the ignition and tried to apprehend Thenjayo, but he evaded capture.

He was eventually caught by security guards and handed over to police.

The case was successfully investigated by Det Sgt Sibusiso Xaba from the Brakpan CID.
