Weekend crime round-up

A shop along Station Road was robbed by a gang of armed men.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A shop along Station Road was robbed by a gang of armed men at about 5.30pm.

The men threatened staff, a security guard and customers with guns.

They fled with cash and cellphones.

• Saturday – A woman was raped at an address along Civin Road, in Sonneveld, by a man she had met the previous evening.

The pair had met at an entertainment venue in Brakpan late that night and the man offered to let the woman sleep at his house.

The woman was awakened at about 9am by the man, who told her to co-operate with him or he would slit her throat.

After raping her, he told her to leave, stating: “this isn’t a hotel.”

The man was arrested later that day.

A laptop was stolen during a burglary at a home along Jones Avenue.

A white Mazda BT-50 bakkie was stolen from Bosman Stadium.

• Sunday – A motorbike (make and model not provided) was stolen from an address along Gladstone Avenue.
