Initiative to assist local children

"Any nation that is serious about its future invests in the education of its nationals."

Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina has expressed appreciation and excitement for the Gibela initiative to assist local children with maths, science and English.

“This is a great initiative and we appeal to more companies to follow suit,” said Masina.

“This initiative augurs well for the literacy standard of our city and we are really excited that over 400 children have become beneficiaries of such a great initiative.

“The bottom line is that if we are to win the battle against poverty, unemployment and inequality, then our people must be educated so that they can obtain the necessary skills to survive on their own.

Gibela gave life to its commitment to local socio-economic development last week when it launched the Maths, Science and English Saturday classes in communities neighbouring its Dunnottar manufacturing site, currently under construction.

Masina has encouraged the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity and ‘get the best out of it’.

“Our future is in the hands of these youngsters and we know that if they prosper, so do we as a city, province and South Africa at large,” he added.
