Mayor visits communities during Service Delivery Fridays

The mayor said his officials would continue engagement with residents to find a solution.

Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina has declared every Friday as service delivery Fridays in Ekurhuleni.

During his visit to the Winnie Mandela, Tswelopele and Duduza informal settlements last week, Masina kicked off the Service Delivery Fridays campaign, dubbed “Siyaqhuba”, by encouraging citizens to subscribe to the City’s mobile application to report all their service delivery challenges.

The Ekurhuleni Service Delivery App is available on the Google play store for android phone users and the IOS for iPhone users.

Upon meeting with the mayor and senior officials during their walkabout, residents expressed their frustrations with the lack of service delivery.

The mayor was in Duduza informal settlement where he went from door to door.

The people in the area are waiting for water and sanitation pipes to be installed but are refusing to be moved temporarily to allow this.

The mayor said his officials would continue engagement with residents to find a solution.

Earlier, MMCs visited the Olifantsfontein Clinic which does not have enough space for patients.

The MMCs were impressed, however, that all patients were attended to with no one being turned away.

The delegation also visited Tswelopele informal settlement.

The office of the mayor will track all commitments made to make sure that they are carried through.

Masina reassured residents that all hands were on deck to tackle shortcomings of service delivery across the City.
