Woman robbed after accepting lift in Dalpark

While travelling in the car, one of the men pulled out a firearm, pointed it at the woman and demanded sex.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Three burglaries were reported.

These took place at addresses along Opperman Street, in Dalpark, Norfolk Street, in Dalview, and Hastings Avenue.

Stolen items included a television set, external hard drive, speakers, a digital camera, a pair of spectacles, a tablet and cellphones.

A car parked at the Norfolk Street property was also broken into and a wallet was stolen from the vehicle.

Three armed men robbed a shop in Brenthurst of cash and cigarettes.

The men entered the store, situated along Scott Street, at about 12.30pm and asked to buy cigarettes.

One of them then pulled out a firearm and struck the cashier, who was in the store alone, over the head with it.

The robbers tied the cashier’s legs with wire and took his cellphone.

They took cigarettes and cash before fleeing on foot.

A red and black Jonway scooter was stolen from an address along Jones Avenue.

A cellphone was stolen from a vehicle parked along Prince George Avenue.

• Saturday – A woman was robbed of her handbag by two men from whom she had accepted a lift.

The woman was at an entertainment venue in Dalpark and told her friend she was going to withdraw money from a nearby petrol station.

The men had overheard the conversation and offered her a lift, to which she agreed.

While travelling in the car, one of the men pulled out a firearm, pointed it at the woman and demanded sex.

The woman opened the car door and jumped from the moving vehicle, leaving her handbag behind.

The handbag contained cash, bank cards and cosmetics.

The men were travelling in a white Hyundai ix35 and the incident took place at about 4am.

A car parked along Gerrit Maritz Avenue, in Dalview, was broken into.

A wristwatch, jacket and portable power bank were stolen.

Two men were arrested for robbery in Dalpark.

The pair, as well as two others, had robbed two males at gunpoint along Viking Road at about 2.45pm.

The victims, who were robbed of R500, managed to flee unharmed and contacted police.

The SAPS arrived and arrested two of the suspects.

A business robbery was reported at a supermarket along Glamorgan Avenue, in Dalview.

Two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, robbed the shop of cash, cigarettes and airtime.

The robbery took place at about 2.30pm.

A blue Fiat Uno was stolen from Hoy Avenue and a black Big Boy scooter was stolen from an address along Hope Avenue.

• Sunday – Cash and airtime vouchers were stolen from a tuck shop in the Mkhankwa Village informal settlement, in Witpoort Estates.
