Brakpan police are pleading with women to be vigilant after a woman was raped in Brenthurst.

According to information received from the local SAPS, the 30-year-old woman was attacked on Thursday morning, last week.

She had been walking alongside the railway line, near Thomas Street, when she was confronted by an armed man at about 9.10am.

The man, who was armed with a knife, grabbed the woman by her hand and forced her to the ground.

He then undressed her and raped her.

The man, who was described as light in complexion, was wearing white tekkies, blue jeans and a brown jacket.

Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan police station commander, advised women to never walk around alone and to be on the lookout for suspicious-looking people or vehicles.

“Walk in well-lit busy streets and in a group, if possible,” he said.

A case of rape is being investigated.
