Sunair Park family robbed in their home

Three robbers gained access to the residence at about 2.30pm and pointed a gun at the homeowner, who was napping in his bedroom.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

• Friday – Three burglaries took place.

Television sets, laptops, cellphones, speakers and an amplifier were among the items stolen from addresses along Daimler Avenue, in Kenleaf, Majuba Street, in Helderwyk Estate and Derby Avenue.

A white Nissan 1400 bakkie was stolen from the corner of Prince George Avenue and Gardiner Avenue.

The tuck shop at Brakpan High School was broken into.

A list of the stolen items was not provided to the Herald.

A security guard on duty at a company along Victoria Avenue was tied up and robbed of his belongings by a group of robbers.

Two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, confronted the guard in the CCTV control room at about 8pm.

They bound his hands with cable and covered his head with items of clothing.

The guard overhead one of the men on the phone and the robbers were then joined by at least eight others.

The gang made off with a computer and cables, as well as the guard’s two cellphones and cash.

• Saturday – Two cars were stolen.

A blue Toyota Corolla was stolen from the corner of Van der Walt Road and Gloucester Avenue, in Dalview, and a silver Volkswagen Polo was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

Thieves stole a laptop, car radio, CDs, a GPS and sound equipment from a car parked at an address along Athlone Avenue, in Larrendale.

A television set was stolen during a break-in at a residence along Willem van Zyl Avenue, in Minnebron.

Speakers, a CD player, CDS, DVDS and a laptop were stolen from a home along Stormberg Street, in Leachville.

A shop along Prince George Avenue was robbed of a large sum of money by three armed men.

The men entered the store at about 5.40pm, and one of them pointed a gun at the manager, who was assisting a customer at the time.

The manager was instructed to open the tills and the robbers helped themselves to the cash, placing it in a black plastic bag.

The robbers fled in a light blue Toyota Corolla.

They took the man and his girlfriend, as well as the man’s son, to a back room, where they were instructed to sit and “not to try anything”.

The robbers took a television set, three cellphones and a laptop.

• Sunday – A motorcycle was stolen from Joubert Street, in Brenthurst.
