Trio robs pawn shop

The trio, one of whom was armed with a pistol, entered the shop and posed as customers before holding up a staff member at gunpoint.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Three men robbed a pawn shop along Voortrekker Road at about 10.15am.

The trio, one of whom was armed with a pistol, entered the shop and posed as customers before holding up a staff member at gunpoint.

They fled with cellphones, laptops and cameras.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery.

A car battery, radio and other goods were stolen from a car parked at an address along Elsburg Road, in Dalpark.

A delivery man was robbed of thousands of Rands along Hospital Road, in Brakpan North, at about 5.40pm.

The man, who was travelling in a white Toyota Hino truck with a trailer attached, was forced to stop when the car in front of him, a silver Honda Ballade, came to a sudden halt.

He then saw two men emerge from the surrounding veld and approach his truck.

They climbed into the truck and ordered the driver to turn off the vehicle.

The pair then grabbed a bag of cash from the driver and a scuffle ensued.

The robbers managed to escape with the money and fled into the veld.

The Honda Ballade then took off, and was later found abandoned.

A case of common robbery was opened.

• Saturday – A home along Gloucester Avenue, in Kenleaf, was burgled of jewellery and perfume.

• Sunday – A car battery was stolen from a vehicle parked along Kingsway Avenue.

A break-in was reported at an address along Northdene Avenue.

A wallet, two cellphones and a tablet were stolen.
