‘Good Samaritan’ speeds off with woman’s belongings

He offered her a ride into town, to which she agreed.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A woman was robbed of her handbag and other belongings by a man from whom she had accepted a lift.

The woman was waiting for a taxi along Airport Drive, in Dalpark, at about 8am when the man, who was driving a white Mazda, pulled up alongside her.

He offered her a ride into town, to which she agreed.

When they reached the corner of Currey Street and Northdene Avenue, however, the man stopped the car, claiming there was something wrong with it.

He asked the woman if she would help him push the vehicle.

The woman agreed and got out of the vehicle.

As she made her way to the back of the car, the man sped off.

The woman had left her handbag, containing her cellphone, house keys and other valuables, as well as a bag containing clothes and bedding, inside the car.

A case of common robbery was opened.

A residence along Hospital Road, in Brakpan North, was burgled of a pair of tekkies, a pair of jeans and a wristwatch.

Two cars were stolen.

A white Mazda 323 was stolen from an address along Voortrekker Road and a black Volkswagen Golf was stolen from the corner of Kingsway Avenue and Wanderers Street.

• Saturday – A business situated along Seventh Road, in Witpoort Estates, was robbed, and a security guard on duty was assaulted.

Six batteries from three trucks on the property were stolen, as well as four grinders and a welding machine.

The robbers fed in the security guard’s white Fiat Palio.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday in connection with the incident.

Burglars stole tools and a step ladder from a business in 12th Road, Vulcania.

A gas cylinder and camping stove were stolen from a home along Katdoring Street, in Dalpark.

An Isuzu double cab bakkie (colour not provided) was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

• Sunday – Five burglaries were reported.

These took place at addresses along Duncan Street and Fifeshire Road, in Brenthurst, Van Schoor Street, in Brakpan North, Porter Avenue and Kingsway Avenue.

Bicycles, television sets, cash, tablets, cellphones, jewellery and groceries were amongst the items stolen.

A black motorcycle was also stolen from the property in Kingsway Avenue.

Two men robbed a woman of her cellphone along the corner of Wenden Avenue and Park Street.

The woman was walking to a nearby shop at about 12.10pm when the pair grabbed her and searched her.

A white Nissan Sentra was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

Two trucks parked at an address along Lemmer Road, in Vulcania, were stripped of parts and a tyre.
