Knife-wielding teen (16) arrested for robbery

Approached the victim and threatened him with an Okapi knife.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A laptop, two external hard drives, cash and other items were stolen from a vehicle parked along Hendrik Potgieter Street, in Dalview.

A red and blue Lifan scooter was stolen from the corner of Kitzinger Avenue and Prince George Avenue.

Groceries, a car radio and car battery were stolen from a home along 10th Street, in Withok Estates.

A motorbike (colour and make not provided) was stolen from Wenden Avenue.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for robbery at the Schapensrust Train Station, in Brenthurst.

The teenager, who was armed with an Okapi knife, and an accomplice robbed a man walking along Tweedy Road at 3.45pm.

They approached the victim and threatened him.

The pair took the man’s cellphone and wallet.

The victim, however, fought back and managed to apprehend one of his attackers.

He was assisted by a passer-by, who witnessed the incident.

They took the teenager to the train station, where the police were called.

The youngster was arrested and later released into his father’s care.

• Saturday – Two cars were stolen.

A purple Nissan Sentra was stolen from an address in Colliery Road, in Dalview, and a black Renault Cleo was stolen from Airport Drive, in Dalpark.

Batteries were stolen from a truck parked along Wenden Avenue.

Four burglaries took place.

Television sets, a tablet, an alarm battery, hi-fi and games console are among the items reported stolen from homes along Kitzinger Avenue, Eric Holdtman Street, in Minnebron, and Walkden Avenue and Talbot Street, in Brakpan North.

• Sunday – A vehicle parked at an address along Etosha Avenue was broken into.

While nothing was stolen from the vehicle, the ignition had been tampered with and a door lock was broken.

Three burglaries were reported.

These took place at addresses along 15th Road, in Sallies Village, and Torchwood Street and Elizabeth Eybers Street, in Dalpark.

Television sets, a laptop, car keys and handbags were stolen.
