Spreading awareness about pet care

Brakpan SPCA visited the Plastic Village informal settlement.

Staff from the Brakpan SPCA visited the Plastic Village informal settlement on Tuesday morning, to create awareness about caring for animals.

The informal settlement, which is situated along Main Reef Road, opposite the Weltevreden Landfill Site, is home to a number of pets.

Staff members used the opportunity to introduce the organisation to residents and educate them about pet care.

They also distributed pet food.

It is hoped that a number of animals from the informal settlement will be sterilised as part of the local society’s mass sterilisation project.

The Brakpan SPCA aims to sterilise 1 000 animals this year and regularly holds Mass Sterilisation Days.

They will be hosting a Cat Sterilisation Day for indigent Brakpan residents and pensioners on Sunday, May 8.
