A Dalpark teenager has been selected to represent South Africa at a prestigious convention in the United States of America.

Jermaine Oliphant (18), a Grade 12 student at Destiny Christian Academy, in Boksburg, qualified to attend the 2016 International Student Convention.

The convention will be held in Warrensburg, Missouri, from May 21 to 26, and will see students from all over South Africa and Scandinavia competing in over 150 events in nine categories.

Students showing exceptional potential and talent in their events are nominated.

The students must raise their own funds to attend the convention through sponsorships and other fund-raising initiatives.
