Support the annual Toy Run

Carnival City has pledged its support for the 33rd annual Gauteng Motorcycle Toy Run, providing a start venue for the hundreds of motorcyclists that will participate in the mass ride to Benoni Northerns Athletics Club on Sunday at 9am.

This will be the first time Carnival City has provided a start venue for the event and the fifth consecutive year that Benoni Northerns Athletics Club has hosted the finish.

Several biker clubs will participate in the mass ride from four venues in the north, south, east and west of Gauteng to collect gifts and toys for underprivileged children. Each year some 20 000 bikers participate in the mass ride and over 25 000 gifts are

collected to be distributed to service clubs and children-related charity organisations so the children can celebrate Christmas with a gift.

With hundreds of bikes revving and riders laden with toys, it is a spectacle the community is encouraged to come to see.

People not participating in the mass ride are also encouraged to visit Benoni Northerns Athletics Club to watch the bikers arrive and join in the fun. There will be over a hundred stalls selling food and crafts, a sound stage with two live bands, entertainment and a beer garden. The entrance fee is a toy. Ideally, educational toys or toiletries should be donated.

No toy guns or knives will be accepted. People are urged to bear in mind that battery operated toys are of little use once the batteries die.

People or companies wishing to host a stall can contact Graeme on 083 463 2761 or Pete on 083 229 6621.
