Mice eat their fill at SPCA

An infestation of mice in the food store of the Brakpan SPCA has left the society with a very low supply of dog and cat food.

Manager Ming Church explained that she recently noticed that mice had made their way into the food supplies stored in the feeder room.

“There were small holes in some of the bags of dog food and there were also mice droppings,” she said.

“I had the whole feeder room cleaned and the food sorted and repacked, but we had to throw away a lot of the dry dog food for fear of contamination.”

The result is that the SPCA is running very low on food for the animals.

“This is the first time in many years that we have been in this situation, so we are urging the public to assist us with dog and cat food.

“The staff of the Brakpan SPCA and the animals will be very grateful,” said Ming.

The Brakpan SPCA is situated along Denne Road and the contact number is 011 742-2007.
