Suspect nabbed in murder case of teacher

Acting on a tip-off, EMPD SWAT members yesterday (July 19), at around midday, arrested a suspect believed to have been involved in the kidnapping and murder by strangulation of a Tsakane female teacher, whose body was found in an unused toilet on an empty stand in Tsakane on Saturday, last week.

The 26-year-old suspect was arrested at what he claimed to be his house, in Mayfield Extension 08, Daveyton.

The man was found packing clothing into bags claiming that he was relocating to an unnamed location in Johannesburg, as he was being threatened about a murder of which he had no knowledge.

On perusal of the records at the police station it emerged that there was a warrant of arrest out for him for possession of an illegal firearm, as he had failed to appear in court on Friday, July 17 2015.

More informants, with concrete leads, point in the direction of the suspect having been involved in the murder case of the teacher.

He was detained at the Tsakane Police Station on charges of kidnapping and murder, and will appear in court soon.
