Support Carnival City Sleep Out for vulnerable children

Carnival City executives and employees will spend Thursday night (June 18) under the stars.

Giving up the home comforts that so many people take for granted, the volunteers will brave the cold night to raise awareness and funds to support the critical work of Girls and Boys Town.

Members of the community can show their support by making a donation towards the cause at the main entrance to Carnival City on the night. A registration table will be available from 6pm.

Carnival City’s Sleep Out is aligned with the inaugural 702 Sun International CEO Sleep Out, to be held in Johannesburg, on June 18.

Carnival City’s general manager, Annemie Turk, and other employees will sleep out at Carnival City on the same night in a show of support for this worthy initiative and in solidarity with Sun International’s CEO, Graeme Stephens.

The CEO Sleep Out, founded in Australia in 2006, challenges local business leaders to join the global movement to raise funds, awareness and empathy for homelessness and the challenges faced by vulnerable children every day.

Almost 200 of the country’s top business leaders have already registered to participate in the 702 Sun International CEO Sleep Out.

The immediate mission of the Johannesburg CEO Sleep Out event is for 250 participants to raise R100 000 each, raising a total of R25-million overnight for Girls and Boys Town, and to spark a conversation about the role of business as a force for good in society.

“If South Africa’s top business echelon can spend a cold winter’s night under the stars, so should we; we are urging caring South Africans to pledge their support for our sleep out, as all donations will go towards helping the inaugural 702 Sun International CEO Sleep Out reach its fund-raising target,” said Turk.

For more information about making a donation to the Carnival City Sleep Out, contact Mdu Madonsela (CSI Officer) on 011 898 7191.
