Metro will collect additional black bags during April

Most residents of Brakpan are, by now, aware of the fact that the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is replacing the plastic (black) bag refuse removal system throughout the metro with the more hygienic and user-friendly 2401 wheelie bin system.

The changeover from the plastic bag system to the 2401 wheelie bin system is in progress throughout the metro, in order to eliminate some operational and service delivery inefficiencies and, more importantly, to enhance legislative compliance with regard to service standards and cost effectiveness of the Waste Management Service’s tariff structure.

As the rollout of the 2401 bin system has now been completed in Brakpan, residents must take note of the following:

Residents are encouraged to utilise the bins for the purpose for which they are meant.

In order to afford the residents of Brakpan who still do not have EMM 240l bins an opportunity to collect their bins from the Brakpan Waste Management depot, arrangements have been made for personnel to also be available at the Brakpan depot on Saturdays, between 7am and noon, to issue 240l bins to residents.
