Mayor reshuffles Mayoral committee

The Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Clr Mondli Gungubele, recently announced the reshuffling of his mayoral committee.

This step was taken after the debate of the State of the City Address in council, on Wednesday, last week.

One of the key elements of the address was accelerating service delivery towards the end of the term for the current term of local government office, in 2016.

“We gave a full report of how we have done since we took office in May 2011. However, in an effort to optimise service delivery, we must continuously assess our performance so that the necessary interventions can be made,” said Gungubele.

“Every healthy organisation must reflect on its performance on a regular basis to determine if the machinery remains relevant to the course.

“While we are happy with the progress made thus far, we believe that, with some reconfiguration, we can do more.”

The mayor said that, after extensive consultations within the ruling party, the ANC have taken a collective decision to reconfigure the mayoral committee.

The new committee is:

Councillors who have been re-deployed by the ANC to other structures in council are: Mthuthuzeli Siboza (Community Safety), Zeni Tshongweni (Sport), Tilly Mabena (Environment), Phelisa Nkunjana (Corporate and Shared Services) and Bennet Nikani (Economic Development).
