SAPS: This criminal behaviour will not be tolerated

Brakpan police have issued a stern warning to members of the public who harass and intimidate the local homeless community.

According to Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander, people who sleep on pavements in the CBD have allegedly been assaulted, harassed and pepper-sprayed during the nights.

“Brakpan police have received numerous complaints from innocent people who are victims of these criminal actions,” he said.

“It is further alleged that the suspects in these unacceptable actions are claiming to be members of the Brakpan CPF.

“No one is above the law, not even SAPS members.”

Joubert told the Herald that Brakpan police condemn any illegal action and will not tolerate such behaviour.

Victims are asked to come forward and report incidents to police, in order for proper investigations to be conducted.
