Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (March 13, 14 and 15):

Friday

Three burglaries were reported.

In Hamilton Avenue, a house was broken into and a television set, laptop, surround-sound system and other household items were stolen.

A domestic worker, at a house along Etosha Avenue, was tied up, robbed and covered with a duvet by two armed men. Two television sets were stolen during the robbery, which took place at about 11.30am.

A burglary took place at a business along Derby Street, where three security cameras were stolen.

A woman, walking along Goods Road, was threatened with a knife and her handbag was stolen by a man at 12.30pm.

Six webcams, a battery charger and a set of jumper cables were stolen from a car parked along Kingsway Avenue.

The vehicle’s bonnet and boot were forced open.

A parked truck was broken into at Mall@Carnival. Two bags containing personal items were stolen out of the truck.

Saturday

Two houses were broken into. Two laptops, two sound systems, liquor and other household items were stolen from the addresses, along Floors Road and Graaf Road.

A man was robbed at gunpoint along Lemmer Road, Vulcania, at about 2.30pm.

The man was en route to a nearby spares shop when he became lost.

A vehicle with three occupants parked behind him and one of the men offered to accompany him to the shop.

The man climbed into the passenger side and, before the driver could start the vehicle, a firearm was pointed at him and he was ordered to hand over his money. An amount of R5 000 and a Nike bag containing two cellphones were taken.

Sunday

A pedestrian was assaulted and robbed by a gang of men along Kitzinger Avenue, at about 7.45pm. His wallet, containing R1 000, his cellphone and other personal items were stolen.
