Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (February 20, 21 and 22):

Friday
Burglaries were reported at homes along Brakpan Road, Anzac, Kiepersol Crescent, Dalpark, and Norfolk Street, Dalview.

Shoes, jewellery, computer tablets, a DVD player and a lawnmower were among the stolen goods.

Saturday
An attempted break-in was reported at a clothing retailer in the Mall@Carnival.

The store’s manager and a staff member discovered holes in the ceiling when they arrived at work just after 8am.

A man was robbed of R5000 and his cellphone by two robbers along Queen Avenue.

The man had just withdrawn the cash from a bank in the CBD, when the robbers approached him in the street at about 12.20pm, and pointed a gun at him.

A Larrendale couple were robbed of their jewellery, cash and a firearm by two robbers.

The man and his wife had arrived at their Athlone Street home at about 3.45pm, and had just pulled into the driveway, when the robbers struck.

The couple, who were still seated in their vehicle, were ordered to hand over their belongings at gunpoint.

The robbers then fled in a red car, the make and model of which is unknown.

Cigarettes and cash was stolen during an armed robbery at a take-away shop along Prince George Avenue.

Three men pretending to be customers entered the shop at about 8pm, and ordered staff and a customer to lie on the floor.

Computers were stolen from two businesses situated along Molecule Road, Vulcania.

Burglars stole a computer, a microwave, a DVD player and two television sets from homes along Laurel Avenue and Blesbok Avenue, Leachville.

Sunday
A purple Mazda Drifter was stolen from an address along Augrabies Avenue, Dalpark.

The bakkie was later recovered in Vosloorus, Boksburg.

Two women were held up and robbed in their home along Dirk van der Hoff Road, Rand Collieries.

The two friends were confronted by a man in the house at about 11.40pm.

The man, who threatened to stab the women, stole jewellery, a laptop and cellphones.
