Veteran police members honoured

Long-serving police members from the Brakpan SAPS cluster were honoured for their loyal service, with true pomp and ceremony, at a medal parade, last week.

Eighty-one SAPS members received medals at the parade, which was held at the Army Gymnasium, in Heidelberg, on Thursday.

The Brakpan cluster comprises the Brakpan, Tsakane, Boksburg, Boksburg North and Reiger Park police stations.

“The medals were presented to the members by the deputy provincial commissioner, Maj Gen Deliwe de Lange, who was assisted by cluster commander Brig Wessie van der Westhuizen,” said Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander.

“Both praised and thanked the medal recipients for their loyalty and hard work.”

The Brakpan police station recipients are:

10 years:

St Ellen Masetlane, Sgt Samantha Duister, WO Lucia Govender, Capt Richard Ndlovu, Const Pule Mphojane, Sgt Ketlani Selala, Sgt Annemarie Rudolph, Sgt Ockert Venter, Sgt Rungulani Rikhotso, Sgt Sibusiso Xaba, Sgt Maphuti Seema, Sgt David Mgidlana and Sgt Grattle Ludick-Mashile.

20 years:

Capt Sagathavan Pather, WO Dirk Pretorius, WO Gert Botes, Sgt Petro Mthethwa, Sgt Sefele Shalang, Sgt Jeremiah Mokgoatle and Lieut Col Ramolifif Pailane.

30 years:

Lieut Col Abram Modise, Lieut Zondi Zwane, Lieut Col Elizabeth Mphahlele and Capt Phineas Kgaditsi.
