The City of Ekurhuleni has identified several areas that are suffering from major water losses.
The areas will receive an awareness and education campaign this week to turn the situation around.
Starting from tomorrow, Ekurhuleni will embark on a door-to-door campaign to get residents involved in the fight against water losses.
The week long awareness campaign, which started on Wednesday and will run until Tuesday, February 17, seeks to educate residents about the importance of conserving water.
“We will thoroughly engage with community members on how to preserve water,” said Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality spokesperson Sam Gadebe.
“More importantly, we will give residents DIY (Do It Yourself) tips on repairing internal household leaks, as well as issuing out water conservation material such as basin stoppers and easy to read educational flyers.”
In addition, the campaign will focus on the reduction of sewer blockages, which are mainly caused by foreign objects found in sewer lines.
