The awards are held by the Department of Basic Education to acknowledge and encourage dedicated and caring teachers.
Govender was placed first in the ‘Excellence in Primary School Teaching’ category.
In addition, the school’s principal, Dr Razia Ghanchi-Bedasie, achieved a second place in the ‘Excellence in Primary School Leadership’ category.
Ghanchi-Bedasie claimed third place in this category, for Gauteng, in 2013.
