Distinctions galore at Brakpan High

Brakpan High School's matric class of 2014 attained a 94 per cent pass rate.

A number of learners attained distinctions and the school boasted high marks in accounting, mathematics and physical sciences.

According to school principal Lucky Nkopane, the school had a 100 per cent pass rate in practical subjects such as computer applications technology and consumer studies, a 98 per cent pass rate in mathematics and maths literacy, and a 90 per cent pass rate in physical sciences.

The school’s top learner was Nelisiwe Kunene, who obtained five distinctions for, mathematics, geography, life sciences, physical sciences and life orientation.

The following learners obtained four distinctions each:

* Kajol Gowtham (English home language, life sciences, accounting and computer applications technology)

* Siphiwe Nyakane (accounting, business studies, tourism and life orientation)

* Zanele Sibanyoni (mathematics, life sciences, physical sciences and life orientation).

A large number of learners attained university entrance.

“We are very proud as a school because we achieved this quality of results despite being bogged down by challenges throughout 2014,” said Nkopane.

“I would like to congratulate my learners for a job well done and to wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
