Muriel Brand School does it again

Muriel Brand School has attained a 100 per cent pass rate for the 15th consecutive year.

The school is one of only a handful of schools in the Gauteng area that has achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for five or more years consecutively.

A little less than half of the learners achieved university exemption.

This was once again an exceptional achievement for a special school that caters for learners with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities, as well as for specific learning disabilities and dyslexia.

The school follows the same Grade 12 Caps curriculum as ordinary schools and the learners write the same papers as ordinary schools.

Both Afrikaans and English medium instruction are offered.

The top achiever for 2014 was Michael de Bruin, closely followed by the school’s head girl Ashley Rahl.

Other top achievers were Ruan Van Niekerk, Tricia Poultney and Thabang Nkuna.
