Teen sentenced for housebreaking

A 19-year-old man will spend the next few years of his life behind bars, after he was found guilty of housebreaking and theft.

Lethohonolo Maratule (19) was sentenced, in the Brakpan Regional Court, to three years imprisonment, on October 31.

Maratule broke into a home along Hamilton Street on May 26, this year, and stole a television set, electric tools, clothing and jewellery.

In a separate case, 31-year-old Manwell Embrose was also sentenced to three years imprisonment for housebreaking.

Embrose was sentenced on November 14, in the Brakpan Regional Court, and was declared unfit to possess a firearm.

He was found guilty of breaking into a home along Chestnut Street, Dalpark Six, on May 2, this year.

Neighbours spotted Embrose leaving the property with a black bag containing curtains and linen, and confronted him.

He fled the scene on foot, but was arrested later that day.

Both cases were successfully investigated by Det Const Selwyn Pieterse.
