Update: Police seek witnesses after mortar injures woman

Brakpan police are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed or has any information regarding the incident, in which a young Brakpan woman was injured by a mortar projectile.

The horrific incident took place on Saturday, at an address along Derby Avenue, and resulted in Felicia Klopper (20) sustaining a fractured skull and an injury to her shoulder.

According to WO Lucia Govender, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, police are busy with an investigation into the matter and are currently conducting ballistic and forensic tests.

“We urge any eyewitnesses to come forward; if anybody has any information we ask them to please make contact with us,” she said.

Felicia Klopper (20) sustained a fractured skull and an injury to her shoulder when a mortar projectile crashed through the roof of her house. She is in a stable condition at the Life Glynnwood Hospital in Benoni.
