Tekkie Tax celebrates its Disability Ambassador

Tekkie Tax this week announced Michelene Toms as the Disability Ambassador for the Tekkie Tax project.

In addition to this huge task, she is a property investor and runs a very successful student accommodation business.

“South Africa had a great need for a fundraising campaign like Tekkie Tax that includes the whole spectrum of welfare organisations from animals, basic family care, children, disability to education,” said Toms.

“There are so many fundraising campaigns where the money never reaches the welfare organisations on ground level.

“With Tekkie Tax I have the assurance that the money really does reach ground level.

“To be one of the ambassadors for Tekkie Tax is my way of giving thanks to God for all the wonderful blessings that he has bestowed upon me.

“It is an honour to work with such a dedicated and devoted organisation and extraordinary people like Annelise de Jager and her staff at the Tekkie Tax office.”

Toms decided to choose the disability sector because of her love and compassion for people with disabilities.

“I want my donation to count and with Tekkie Tax I am sure that my financial contribution is actually reaching the NGOs intended for,” she said.

In the spirit of Toms joining this worthwhile project, the Tekkie Tax family recently hosted her birthday party at Aanhouwen Work and Care Centre for the disabled in Somerset West.

Aanhouwen is a multi-cultural and multi-racial work and care centre providing daily for 65 members aged between 18 and 66, with 60 per cent being from previously disadvantaged communities.

They enable mentally handicapped adults to participate in constructive and meaningful activities. By developing their skills, they enable them to be active and productive in the community.

The day was filled with fun, laughter and dancing as Tommy Dell, South African country singer and presenter at Radio Helderberg, joined the birthday celebration and provided music to every heart’s desire.

National Tekkie Tax Day is a fundraising project for a large mix of carefully selected welfare organisations, schools and institutions in South Africa.

Depending on where your heart lies, you can choose any of the five sectors you would like to support when buying your sticker/s (you may choose more than one).
