Ekurhuleni leadership to report back to the people

In a move to continue deepening participatory democracy and a people-centered government, Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, will lead his executive committee into communities to report on the status of service delivery through the Mayoral Imbizo programme.

The two-day Mayoral Imbizo will be used to report back on the municipal performance for the 2013/2014 financial year and is also expected to give area-specific ground breaking announcements regarding the 2014/2015 financial year.

The Executive Mayor and his Mayoral Committee will be spread across various areas of Ekurhuleni on Wednesday (August 20) and Thursday (August 21) to report on the mandate given by the people.

“We have a social contract with the citizens of Ekurhuleni, which places an obligation for the leadership of the City to continuously engage with the communities directly in order to remain alert of the current needs, the shortfalls and indeed to share the achievements of the City of Ekurhuleni,”  said Ekurhuleni’s spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

Accordingly, the Mayoral Izimbizo will also respond to the issues that were raised by the communities in February this year.

The Brakpan Imbizo will be held at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre tomorrow (Wednesday) at 5pm.

Clr Phelisa Nkunjana and Clr Bennet Nikani will be present.
