Good Samaritan seeks to reunite injured cat with its owners

A Good Samaritan came to the aid of an injured cat last night (Tuesday), after it was struck by a car.

Chantelle Booysens is now hoping to reunite the feline, whom she has named Kitty, with his owners.

According to Booysens, she witnessed the driver of a “speeding” bakkie run over the cat along Olympia Road, near the Springs Airfield.

“He did not have the decency to pull over and rescue the injured cat,” she said.

Booysens immediately stopped to help and took the cat to a local veterinarian.

“The cat was in shock due to the severe encounter, but the doctor was excellent,” she said.

“He immediately treated the cat and kept him overnight to observe him.”

Booysens telephoned the vet this morning (Wednesday) to inquire about the cat’s well-being and was told he had survived the evening.

“They will still examine him and if he’s doing better, the SPCA will be collecting him from them,” she said.

Booysens told the Herald she believes Kitty’s owners are extremely worried about him.

“Some little girl may be crying herself to sleep because she has no idea where her cat is,” she said.

“I also believe Kitty would appreciate seeing a familiar face right about now.”

Booysens can be contacted on 074 819 8471.
