Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (March 7, 8 and 9):

Friday

A 40-year-old woman and her daughter (age unknown) were tied up by two robbers in their home along Lukas Steyn Road, in Withok.

The woman was confronted by a man armed with a gun at 6.30am as she was leaving the house.

He instructed her to go back into the house, where another armed man was waiting.

The woman and her daughter were tied up with cables and the men helped themselves to cash, cellphones, a laptop, printer, hairdryer and other goods.

Another house robbery took place at an address along Blyde Avenue, in Leachville, at 9.30pm.

A family were terrorised by three armed men who stormed into the house and forced the husband and wife to lie on the floor.

The couple’s children were allegedly tied up.

The men took three cellphones, a laptop, video camera and cosmetics.

They also took the woman’s vehicle, a white Chevrolet bakkie.

The bakkie was found abandoned in KwaThema.

Seven burglaries were reported.

These took places at addresses in Bacher Avenue and Hospital Road in Brakpan North, Silverbush Crescent in Dalpark, Sonneveld Street in Sonneveld, Escombe Avenue, Prince George Avenue and Northdene Avenue.

Various household items and goods were stolen.

Saturday

A car parked at the corner of High Street and Voortrekker Road was broken into and thieves stole an eight inch (about 20cm) television screen fitted inside the vehicle, as well as a sound system.

A bicycle was stolen from Hoy Avenue and a blue Honda motorbike was stolen from Kingsway Avenue.

Burglars stole a television set from a home in Lawrence Road, Dalpark.

Sunday

Two burglaries were reported.

These took place at homes in Civin Road in Sonneveld and Kirschner Road in Withok Estates.

A television set, DVD player, shoes and games console were among the items stolen.
