Sunair Park electricity woes: there may be light at the end of the tunnel
Residents of Sunair Park and the surrounding areas will experience a more reliable electricity supply as from next month.
The area has been plagued by numerous power failures recently.
According to metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe, the municipality is currently replacing equipment in the Minnebron Substation.
“A process is ongoing to replace medium voltage switchgear that was about 50 years old with new improved switchgear,” he said.
“Unfortunately over the last month we have experienced some installation problems that have caused unfortunate nuisance power failures.
“Most of the problems were smoothed out by Tuesday, March 10, and we are monitoring the situation on a daily basis to ensure the system is stable.”
Gadebe added that the metro is also planning to replace medium voltage cables on certain ring feeds,in the near future.
“This will ensure the electricity is more stable than ever,” he concluded.
