Christmas fantasy comes to life

Carnival City and the Afrisun East Rand Trust have again spread some festive love and cheer to young children from underprivileged communities in Ekurhuleni.

Carnival City and the Afrisun East Rand Trust have again spread some festive love and cheer to young children from underprivileged communities in Ekurhuleni.

Some 350 children, aged between six and 12 years, from various East Rand-based orphanages, were treated to a grand-scale Christmas party on the soccer fields behind the casino complex, on Tuesday.

The field was transformed into a fantasy water world, complete with boat rides, castles and a water slide.

Other fun-filled activities included a foam put, outdoor games, face-painting and interactions with visiting clowns.

The undoubted highlight for the children was the gift-laden, early arrival of Santa and Mrs Claus.

Thanks to Carnival City’s service providers, the kids received fresh fruit juices and bottled water from Headline Leisure Management, Fedics and Wimpy, and enjoyed ice-creams and sweets from other caring sponsors.

On hand during the party, to take care of any scrapes or cuts, was Ikambi Care, Carnival City’s in-house clinic.

“It is a great privilege for us to partner with the Afrisun East Rand Trust to host a Christmas party for young orphaned and neglected children from local communities,” said Godfrey Madonsela, from Carnival City.

“It gives these young children a chance to feel the love, joy and merriment that should surround them at this time of year.

“For many of them, the gift they receive at our party is the only one they will get this Christmas.

“It is tremendously heartening to see them playing, carefree, and their faces lighting up when Father Christmas arrives.

“Carnival City is enormously appreciative of the support and sponsorships that help make the event possible.”
