Burglars sentenced

The following cases were recently heard in the Brakpan Magistrates Court:

* Dirk Jakobs (38) was found guilty of housebreaking and theft.

He was sentenced to three years imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Jakobs broke into a house along Mitchell Crescent, in Brenthurst, on April 23, this year.

The investigating officer was Det Const Selven Pieterse.

* Lehlogonola Maroatana (19) was found guilty of housebreaking and theft.

He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, which was suspended for five years on condition he does not commit the same offence again.

Maroatone broke into a residence along Station Road, on August 15, last year.

The investigating officer was Det Sgt Petros Mthethwa.

* Buthi Nginindi (31) was found guilty of housebreaking and theft.

He was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, 12 of which were suspended for five years.

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Nginindi broke into a house along Laurel Street, Leachville, on February 22.

The investigating officer was Det Sgt Paulos Tseko.

* Mandla Mlombo (31) was found guilty of housebreaking and theft.

He was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, half of which was suspended for five years.

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Mlombo broke into a house along Gardiner Avenue, in December, 2012.

The investigating officer was Det Sgt Petros Mthethwa.

* Piet Mofokeng (28) was found guilty of breaking into a business.

He was sentenced to two years imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Mofokeng broke into a beauty salon along Kitzinger Avenue, in January, this year.

The investigating officer was Det Sgt Petros Mthethwa.
