Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from October 4 to 6.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A white Ford Ranger was stolen from Craigholm Street in Dalview.
• A projector valued at R70 000 was stolen during a burglary at a business along Stoffberg Avenue.

• A home along Escombe Avenue was burgled of TVs, a sound system, a laptop and other valuables.

• Cash, pairs of scissors, an iron, a kettle and a piece of cable from a sewing machine were stolen during a break-in at a business in Kingsway Avenue.

• A guard room at a High Street business was broken into. The intruders stole an electrical distribution board and four door handles.

Saturday – A Station Road resident disturbed two intruders in his yard trying to make off with his TV. The man received a phone call at around 03:20 from his daughter, who lives in a cottage on the property, who told him there was someone in the garden.

The resident went outside to check and saw the pair carrying the TV. Upon seeing the man, the thieves dropped the TV and quickly fled the scene.

A search of the house revealed a laptop and its bag, containing chargers, bank cards and keys, had been stolen.

Sunday – Shoes, clothes and other household items were stolen during a burglary at a residence along Kingsway Avenue.

• A Station Road business was broken into and cash was stolen. Access was gained to the premises through the ceiling.
