Robbers strike while woman showers

The victim was alerted to the intruders by her barking dogs.

A shower turned into sheer terror for a Dalview woman when she was robbed in her Brodigan Street home by two men on Saturday afternoon.

According to police information, the victim was in the shower at around 15:50 when she heard her dogs barking.

She got out of the shower to check and found a man inside the house. He was armed with a crowbar and instructed her to lie down.

The victim, still naked from the shower, asked the intruder if she could cover herself and get something to wear.

She put on a dressing gown and the man told her not to look at him. He was joined by an accomplice and the men took the victim to her bedroom.

They rifled through drawers and took jewellery. When they left the bedroom, one of them told the victim they would be locking her in the room.

The victim then heard a car hooter – it was a friend returning to the house from the shop – and the robbers fled.

In addition to the jewellery, two laptops, a cellphone, a smartwatch, two TVs and a sound bar were taken from the home. A case of house robbery is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
