Tuckshop robbers kill cashier

The victim died from a gunshot wound.

A 31-year-old man was fatally shot during a robbery at a Leachville tuckshop on Wednesday evening.

According to information received, three men entered the shop, at the corner of Jacaranda and Sipres avenues, at around 18:30.

One of the men approached the cashier while the others walked around the shop.

An eyewitness, who was sitting near the front door of the shop, was grabbed and pushed to the back of the shop.

He saw one of the robbers pointing a firearm at the cashier. A gunshot went off and the robbers fled with cash and cartons of cigarettes.

The eyewitness found the cashier bleeding on the floor. The injured man was rushed to the Far East Rand Hospital where he died upon arrival.

He sustained a gunshot wound to the spine. Brakpan police are investigating cases of murder and business robbery.
