119 suspects arrested by local flying squad

Between August 18 and August 24, Rapid Response Services arrested 119 suspects for various crimes including domestic violence, house burglary and robbery.

Between August 18 and August 24, Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 119 suspects, recovering 56 motor vehicles and five firearms.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 57 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, domestic violence, house burglary, robbery, possession of suspected stolen property, possession of vehicle burglary implements, theft, possession of unlicensed ammunition and illegal immigrants.

Fifty-six hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 12 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Five unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying eight arrests.

In further policing, 42 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases. The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
