Partnership gives students and patrons easy access to library and Unisa material

The city partnered with Unisa in celebration of Library Week. Library literacy training for Ekurhuleni’s library staff will help them assist patrons with accessing study material through Unisa.

In collaboration with Unisa, the City of Ekurhuleni celebrated Library Week at the Germiston Library with poetry and storytelling on Friday.

The celebration is one of many events the city will host with Unisa to provide access to library material and literacy training to Ekurhuleni’s library staff and patrons.

Zukiswa Peter, Ekurhuleni’s Library Information and Educational Development manager, explained that through the partnership, Ekurhuleni library patrons who are Unisa-registered students could have academic books couriered to their nearest library from the academic institution, ensuring easy and convenient access to study material.

In addition, library patrons not registered with Unisa would be trained on accessing the Unisa online material that may not be available at their local library at the time of their request.
