House robbers cause terror

The criminals pounced during the early morning hours and targeted two families in separate incidents.

Two cases of house robbery were reported to Brakpan police within two days after armed criminals terrorised residents in their homes this week.

On Monday, a Leachville woman and her two daughters were robbed at gunpoint by three men in their Kaapmuiden Avenue home.

According to the local SAPS, the woman was in her bedroom, just after midnight, when a man armed with a gun entered the room and pointed the weapon at her.

He was joined by two accomplices. The woman screamed, waking up her daughters. They too were threatened with the firearm and instructed to keep quiet.

The daughters were covered with a blanket, while their mother was dragged out of bed and her face covered with a shirt.

The robbers demanded money and were adamant there was cash in the house.

After telling the robbers there was no money, the woman was taken to a dam in Wattville where she was repeatedly thrown in the water until she agreed to hand over the cash.

She was taken back to the house where she pointed to a drawer containing money. The robbers took the cash from the drawer, her wallet, cellphone and car keys.

On Tuesday, a Dalpark man and his wife fell victim to robbers in their Tiller Street home.

The couple was awakened by intruders in their bedroom at around 02:30.The three robbers gained access to the house through a window in the lounge.

One of the robbers, armed with a gun, pointed it at the husband and struck him on the forehead.

The man and his wife were then tied up with cables.

The robbers made off with a 9mm gun belonging to the resident, his firearm licence, cellphones, jewellery and a wallet containing bank cards.
