Rand Water to implement planned maintenance

The work will result in water supply shortages.

Rand Water has scheduled planned maintenance on its S4 pipeline to tie-in a new portion of the pipeline to the existing S4 pipeline.

The 53-hour project will commence from 17:00 on August 11 until 22:00 on August 13. According to Rand Water, City of Ekurhuleni customers will experience water supply shortages during this period.

The project will entail the implementation of various cross-connections before the S4 pipeline is commissioned.

This is part of the previously communicated strategy to refurbish and upgrade the infrastructure for sustainability purposes.

The S4 pipeline runs from the Mapleton booster pump station to Van Dyk Park. The new portion of S4 pipeline that will be tied-in runs from Van Dyk Park to Rynfield.

The CoE and other affected municipalities have been notified 21 days in advance of the planned maintenance to allow them to implement their appropriate contingency measures ahead of the planned work.

The affected municipalities will advise consumers on the extent of the impact of water supply shortages in their respective areas.

Rand Water urges all consumers to use water sparingly.
