SPCA holds AGM

Local society reflects on the past year.

The Brakpan SPCA held its annual AGM at Medley House in Anzac on Saturday.

Manager Tamaryn Lombard presented her manager’s report on what the SPCA has done over the last year.

Since the last AGM, 5 126 animals were handled by the Brakpan SPCA.

Of these 3 278 were dogs, 1 605 were cats, 142 were farm animals and 107 of them were other animals such as tortoises and snakes.

In the last year, 351 animals were adopted, 161 were claimed and 481 were sterilised. The SPCA also investigated 243 cruelty complaints.

They motivated the public to help by becoming an SPCA member, volunteering, donating and adopting. Their financial performance such as revenue and expenses were discussed along with possible focus areas.

Nominations for executive positions on the SPCA committee are still open and can be emailed to secretary@brakpanspca.co.za
