The body of an unidentified man was found in a veld near the Magaleni informal settlement in Sherwood Gardens on Saturday.
The body was discovered at about 09:00 by a man looking for somewhere to relieve himself.
As he was walking towards a field of mielies, he noticed a trail of blood and followed it.
He found the deceased, who was dressed in black clothing, lying face up. Police were called to the scene.
“The deceased had a deep wound on the forehead caused by an unknown object,” said Brakpan SAPS spokesperson Captain Pearl van Staad.
“There are no witnesses that can be found. It appears the deceased was dragged to the place where the body was found.”
A case of murder has been opened and anyone with information regarding the deceased’s identity or the perpetrators may contact local SAPS on 011 744 7100.
