Weekend crime round-up

A motorist who left his car on the side of Main Reef Road after running out of petrol later returned to find it had been stolen.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A house robbery occurred at an address along Essex Street in Dalview. Three robbers armed with guns gained access to the home at around 19:50 and rounded up the family members. They fled with TVs, cellphones, a laptop, jewellery and the family’s car.

* A vehicle parked along Prince George Avenue was broken into. Two jackets and a bag containing school books and a school uniform were stolen.

* A grey Toyota Hilux bakkie was stolen from Devon Street in Dalview.

* A trailer was stolen from an address along Gardiner Avenue.

* A business in Voortrekker Road was broken into and a toolbox was stolen.

* A man was robbed of R2 800 cash by the driver of a red Toyota Conquest after hitching a ride to Tsakani.
The incident took place around 19:30.

The victim, who knew the driver’s first name, agreed to pay R50 to the driver, but when they reached Springs Road in Denneoord the driver demanded more money.

He took the cash from the victim’s pocket and dropped him off at a petrol station.
A case of common robbery is under investigation.

Saturday – A tuck shop in Lemmer Road, Maryvlei, was broken into and all the stock inside was stolen.
The value of the stolen goods is almost R8 000.

Sunday – A black Suzuki motorbike was stolen from an address along Kingsway Avenue. The motorbike was parked in a locked garage.

* A motorist who left his car on the side of Main Reef Road after running out of petrol later returned to find it had been stolen.

The white Chevrolet was stolen between 19:45 and 20:30.
